Artist Statement
I am very much into making sculptures/installations, as well as ceramics. To accentuate the relationship and provoke a strong visceral response in the viewer in shaping my pieces I aim to be minimal yet striking through tension and composition. The creative process of trial and error allows myself to be guided to where the finished work as a whole needs to be. Exploration of my art, always trying something new is when I am truly in my element of wonder. To challenge yourself in problem solve again and again until I get the effect I was looking for (or what I wasn’t even looking for) brings me so many emotions of excitement as well as disappointment that it has taught me how to deal with setbacks and focus on finding a new route to my own definition of a successful piece.
If you are lucky enough to exposed to art in your daily life you cannot help but start a conversation out loud or within yourself about new ideas, current events, triggered emotions, and the artist who made it. I am inspired by the possibilities of making my imagination a reality through material selection and problem solving. My core purpose is to help others feel. I want to bring out emotion in the viewer that they were not aware they even possessed. I try not to name my work, but instead focus on using numerals. This is because I do not want to tell the viewer what to feel, they are in control I am just providing the tools to help them release what is already inside.
